More pictures of Kia's new mini-MPV to rival Fiesta and Meriva

Kia has released more pictures of its concept for the Geneva show, the Kia No 3. Previously known as the Kia YN, it will serve as Kia's supermini, taking on conventional rivals such as the Ford Fiesta but also giving the firm a rival for mini MPVs such as the Vauxhall Meriva.

The most striking feature of the Kia No 3 concept is the diagonal header rail that joins the panoramic glass roof and an extended windscreen. The concept also features an automatic sun visor.

The Kia No 3 concept is the first complete car by Kia design chief Peter Schreyer and his European design team.

The front-end styling echoes that first seen on the new Kia Soul crossover, with the badge set above a gaping grille, while the headlights get the same emphasised lower edge.

The production car, due next year, will share its basic platform architecture with the Kia Soul and Hyundai i20, so expect engine options to include Hyundai-Kia’s 1.2 and 1.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engines and the smooth 1.6-litre common-rail turbodiesel.

The all-new direct-injection turbo petrol first seen in the Kia ix-onic concept is also a possibility.
