This stylish gullwing Subaru hints at the company’s preference for petrol hybrids rather than diesels as a green solution.
The Hybrid Tourer concept has a boxer turbo engine with direct injection, mated to two electric motors. Under normal conditions it uses the petrol engine, with the rear-mounted electric motor assisting under acceleration and the front motor kicking in when driving uphill.

The car has sharp, modern styling that should influence future models, and huge doors swing open to reveal a sumptuous leather interior with four individual seats.
“We may go down the petrol hybrid route rather than extensive development on diesel,” said a company insider.
