Roomster Scout gets its good value badge

07 February 2007

We're fast running out of Scout-related puns for Skoda's faux-4x4 Roomster, the Scout, but that doesn't mean we can't tell you more about it.

Skoda's new body-cladded front-drive MPV promises to do its duty from just £12,505. That'll buy you the 1.4-litre petrol model, which comes with 16-inch alloys, roof rails, tinted glass, a leather-trimmed wheel and gearknob, and ESP.

There's also a 1.6-litre petrol version for £12,855, and a 1.4-litre diesel for £13,450. Leader of the pack, or Akela, if you will, is the 1.9-litre 103bhp TDI, which is a still reasonable £14,050.

Skoda's also announced a new 1.2-litre petrol Roomster, which costs just £9920. Sadly they haven't called it the Cub.

The 1.2 is available from the end of February, while you can expect to see a jamboree of Scouts at your local Skoda dealer in June.
