First look: Peugeot 308 CC
11 July 2008
This is the new Peugeot 308 CC, which takes the French firm’s family hatch and installs a folding metal roof.
However, in place of the regular 308’s rear bench seat, the 308 CC gets two individual, full-size seats. Its electric retracting hard-top folds into the boot in 20 seconds.
Highlights include a new Euro 5-compliant 140bhp diesel unit that will join the engines from the standard 308 range, plus a boot that improves on the old 307 CC by a decent 115 litres, with a 465-litre maximum capacity. Folding the roof reduces that load space to 266 litres, though.
Peugeot has also designed a Mercedes-style neck-warming system, dubbed ‘airwave’, that blows warm air around the occupant’s neck from a heater in the seat.
We won’t see the Peugeot 308 CC in showrooms until early next year, but it will make its international debut at the Paris show in October. Expect prices to start at around £18,000.
