Nissan launches revised GT-R

Nissan has launched a subtly revised version of its GT-R sports car for Europe.
The changes have all taken place under the skin and have been carried out to improve the GT-R’s handling, as well as boosting ride comfort.
The front spring and damper rates have been adjusted and the stiffness of the suspension radius rod bushings has been increased. These changes have been designed to offer improved feel and responsiveness during cornering.
The logic in the gearbox has been changed to provide a later downshift from sixth to fifth when being driven in automatic mode, but a more aggressive downshift is adopted when changing down from fourth to third and from third to second gear.
Two additional cooling ducts have been added to the carbonfibre underfloor diffuser, which provides additional cooling to the exhaust and gearbox. The front transmission mount has also been stiffened, reducing vibration under high-load conditions.
The brake bias has been shifted rearwards, which Nissan claims provides improved stability under dry-weather braking. A modified air deflector increases rear brake cooling.
These changes ensure the GT-R’s 3.8-litre V6 engine is now Euro V compliant and CO2 emissions have dropped 3g/km to 295g/km.
The styling remains predominantly unchanged, with the only external tweak being a double coat of clear paint on the bumpers to give a deeper colour finish. The only interior modifications are new rear seat insulation to improve comfort for passengers, and the speedometer and rev counter now sport gun metallic finish surrounds.
Nissan told Autocar that the changes will come into place on all new GT-Rs ordered, and there was unlikely to be any price increase across the range.
