Final tests for new Merc

15 January 2007

With just days left until Mercedes officially unveils the new C-class saloon, it has released these official 'scoop' shots of the car testing.

This is one of Mercedes' most important models, and testing has been especially rigorous - Merc claims the C-class has undergone the toughest testing programme it has ever devised.

Over three-and-a-half years of development, prototype C-classes have travelled over 24 million kilometres – that's almost 15 million miles.

As well as test rigs and test tracks, the new cars have been tested in places as varied as Finland, Germany, Dubai and Namibia, to name but a few. Of course, the C-class's toughest test will be when Autocar road tests it some time later this year.
