Mazda to launch three-door 2
23 January 2008
Mazda will launch a three-door version of its critically acclaimed 2 supermini at the Geneva motor show in March.
The new body style is meant to attract a younger, more dynamic customer base in Europe and will be cheaper than the five-door model that launched last year.
The same engine range will be on offer, including the 1.3- and 1.5-litre petrol engines and the frugal 1.4-litre diesel.
Despite losing of a couple of doors, the Mazda 2 three-door will keep the same dimensions as the five-door model, and is likely to have a similar kerbweight.
No on-sale dates have been announced, but it won't take long for the slightly less accessible, slightly cheaper and equally brilliant Mazda 2 three-door to make it from Geneva's show floor to UK showrooms.
