Greener Freelander at Geneva
03 March 2009
Land Rover has unveiled the new, greener Freelander 2 at the Geneva motor show.
The revised Freelander 2 TD4_e replaces the current 2.2-litre turbodiesel model in the line-up. It gets a stop-start system that improves fuel economy to 42.2mpg and lowers CO2 emissions from the current car's 194g/km to 179g/km.
All new Freelander models will come with air conditioning as standard when they go on sale later next year. Prices start from £21,295, a rise of around £400 over the outgoing base model.
Land Rover also showed a limited-edition ‘Westminster’ Range Rover on its Geneva show stand.
The V8-engined Westminster Edition is fitted with 20-inch alloys and features some unique Westminster details that include a half-wood steering wheel and stainless steel pedals.
Only 300 examples will be made, and the model will go on sale at the end of March at a cost of £62,995.
