Kia's controversial Soul

25 January 2008

The styling of Kia’s new Soul crossover will polarise opinion, according to the company’s head of vehicle development.

Thomas Geerlich told Autocar that “not everyone is going to like the styling of this car,” which will be shown towards the end of this year.

Closely modelled on the concept seen at the 2006 Detroit show, the Soul will compete with the likes of the Nissan Qashqai but will be “more stylish,” said Gerlich.

The bold wheelarch flares, squared-off lines and trapezoidal tail-lights of the show car will all make production. It will be front-wheel drive only.
