Jaguar Land Rover enters India
Friday, May 01, 2009
Jaguar Land Rover has confirmed it will start selling its cars in India later this year.
The cars will be distributed by the company's owners, Tata Motors Limited, with the first showroom opening in Mumbai in June. A dealer network is scheduled to be set up across India by the end of 2010.
Jaguar will initially sell the XF and XK in India, while Land Rover will sell the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Discovery.
"We are delighted to be formally entering the Indian market, an economy which is still growing appreciably, and able to offer our premium products to a whole new group of customers," said David Smith, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover.
"It is an important strategic move for Jaguar Land Rover and will enable us to realise our competitive potential in this significant market."
