It’s rare that you get to sample a car before it’s been named, but Hyundai gave us the honour recently when we drove its new eight-seat MPV.

The i50 moniker originally intended for the van-based MPV has now been reserved for the new Genesis saloon, suggesting that the big executive model will definitely come to the UK.

However, the Korean firm maintained that it would have a name for the model by this morning, so as of today the new Hyundai people carrier will be known as the i800. The name was chosen as it uses the company's new 'i' prefix and and also highlights the vehicle's eight seats.

Keep watching autocar.co.uk for Steve Cropley's first drive of the i800, which will be posted later today.
