Chrysler's electric city car

This is the Chrysler PeaPod – a compact, battery-powered electric vehicle developed by Chrysler-owned Green Eco Mobility (GEM).
The company plans to launch the PeaPod worldwide in 2010 with prices starting from £12k (£9k).
Available as a one-seater, a two-seater or as a utility van, these compact battery-powered run-abouts have only a 40-mile range but that’s enough, argues Chrysler innovations chief Peter Arnell, for most daily commutes.
To save money (and CO2) on shipping, the company intends to built PeaPods in existing factories located in its key market areas.
GEM has pedigree when it comes to electric cars. It claims that 38,000 of its electric vehicles are in use at the moment.
Autocar understands that Chrysler boss Bob Nardelli has backed GEM’s project, and that the technology could translate to regular Chryslers in the future.
