Chevy’s diesel debut

27 November 2006

Chevrolet's bringing a diesel car to the UK for the first time.

But don't worry, it's not a new Corvette Z06D. Instead, it’s the Lacetti that's getting a Korean-designed 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine.

It's not the first diesel Chevrolet car – the US-market Chevette used a 1.8-litre Isuzu diesel in the 1980s.

The new engine produces 119bhp and 207lb ft and returns a claimed 58.8mpg. It will be available in both the hatchback and estate Lacetti, going on sale some time early next year. Prices have yet to be announced.
