The new Cadillac CTS-V, the most powerful Cadillac ever built, will cost £56,495 when it goes on sale next month, the firm has announced.

The 556bhp Cadillac CTS-V super-saloon will be available in one trim level, called V-Series, with the choice of an automatic gearbox (which costs an extra £2500).

All cars will be left-hand drive only, as the configuration of the Cadillac CTS-V’s engine and exhaust systems would need extensive (and expensive) re-engineering to convert to right-hand drive.

The Cadillac CTS-V’s 550lb ft 6.2-litre V8, derived from the Corvette’s engine, gets a supercharger and enables the car to hit 60mph in 3.9sec.

Standard kit includes a 40Gb music-storage hard drive, magnetic ride control and Recaro seats.
