Frankfurt show: impressions of the X6

The X6 is only a concept car. Yeh right. Give or take some small details it's production-ready and so BMW is making the world's first SUV coupe. Up until now makers have only flirted with concepts but Munich is making one.
First impressions? It's surprisingly stylish, even graceful, and looks far more low-key than most big 4x4s, even the X5.
Everyone at the show was wondering whether BMW needs it. Is it a niche too far? Maybe but it's bound to sell by the bucketload, despite the fact that it's got questionable practicality. When has that ever stopped a coupe?
Oh yes and it's got green cred too. BMW announced that the hybrid version goes on sale in 2009.
