Has Ariel gone soft? The sportscar company has just announced that buyers will be able to specify a windscreen for its lightweight roadster.
The product of two years of development, the semi-frameless windscreen is made of laminated and includes a wiper and washer system. Secured by only five fixings, the option of a windscreen gives the Atom a degree of practicality, removing the need to wear a helmet at high speeds.
Justifying the decision, Ariel boss Simon Saunders said: ‘we believe in offering Atom customers maximum choice. The windscreen widens that choice and is the first in a range of options dedicated to keeping the Atom the best in its class’.
The exact price has yet to be confirmed, but Ariel is hoping the windscreen will add less than £1000 to the cost of a standard Atom.
