Open version of Pagani's new hypercar will be launched within the next three years

Pagani has confirmed it will launch an open-top version of its new Huayra hypercar.

Company boss Horacio Pagani told media in Argentina that there “will be a Huayra roadster in approximately three years”.

Pagani also revealed that he wanted to call the Huayra ‘Da Vinci’, but this plan had to be axed after it emerged the name had already been registered. The name Huayra was suggested by a marketing company, he added.

The Huayra was first seen at the Geneva motor show earlier this month and Pagani said the firm had received 60 orders for the new hypercar in spite of its one million euro price tag.

The Huayra is powered by a bi-turbo 6.0-litre V12. Pagani will sell two versions of the Huayra: the standard engine with 700bhp and 664lb ft, and a Sport version with 730bhp and 811lb ft. Currently Pagani is being quite coy about the Huayra’s performance, but is claiming to have seen 230mph, and zero to 62mph in 3.3sec in testing.
