The twincharged, 1.4-litre TFSI unit - as found in the VW Polo GTI - produces 182bhp and 184lb ft of torque and is connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch S-tronic transmission, sending power to the front wheels.
The company claims a sprint to 60mph of 6.9 seconds and a top speed of 141mph, with fuel consumption claimed at 47.9mpg, emitting 139g/km.
Features of the hot Audi include the company’s S-line trim as standard, which includes 17-inch alloys, part leather-upholstered seats, Bluetooth and iPod, as well as an electronic differential that works with a revised ESP programme.
The introduction of twincharged engine to the Audi model comes despite reports that Volkswagen is likely to discontinue twincharger production for the VW range due to it being too complex and expensive to manufacture.Read more on VW's twincharger plans
