Red Bull driver leads team mate Webber home to ensure a four-way title fight in Brazil

Sebastian Vettel ensured there would be a four-way title battle for the Formula One driver’s championship in Abu Dhabi by securing victory in the Brazilian grand prix.

Vettel took the lead from surprise pole sitter Nick Hulkenberg at the first corner and never looked back, taking victory from Red Bull team mate Mark Webber and world championship leader Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari.

Red Bull, which secured the constructors’ title with its one-two at Interlagos, could have switched its drivers to ensure Webber would head to Abu Dhabi just one point behind Alonso. But instead it chose to give both its drivers a shot at the title, leaving Vettel to secure a deserved victory.

Lewis Hamilton battled through to finish fourth to leave him with an outside shot at the title. But his McLaren team mate Jenson Button’s chances were effectively ended when he failed to make Q3, although he drove brilliantly to finish fifth.

Hulkenberg put up a spirited defence with his Williams to keep much faster rivals at bay in the early stages and eventually came home eight behind the Mercedes of Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher.
