BMW will unveil new model upgrades at the Paris motor show, including the M Sport package for the 5-series saloon and Touring models.
The 5-Series saloon will get a new diesel engine (a 295bhp in-line six-cylinder unit in the 535d), the M Sport package and optional xDrive all-wheel-drive technology.

The 5-Series Touring range is to be given additional diesel engines and a further petrol unit. The 525d Touring is now offered with a 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder engine, which has 201bhp.

The straight-six in the new 535d Touring will have 295bhp; the engine in the 528i Touring will have an output of 255bhp.
BMW 5 Series Touring range will be given the new M Sport package and this will be unveiled alongside the first all-wheel-drive models of the new Executive Touring – the BMW 535i xDrive Touring and the BMW 530d xDrive.
All engine variants of the BMW 5-series Gran Turismo can now be bought with xDrive all-wheel drive.

Your area might have something to do with it, I don't know. I can't say I've seen all that many; I've seen many more XFs, but that's been around for much longer. The Land Rover Discovery seems to be the executive car of choice in my part of Surrey, they're everywhere!
I'm not keen on the M Sport trim level on any BMW as it ruins what is already a hard ride. The xDrive system is interesting, though. That's not been available on saloon or touring BMWs over here before, has it?

I don't know about anyone else but I've seen loads of the 5-Series since it went on sale, far more than I did with the Jag XF or E-Class in the same period after they were launched. Ok, the Bimmer may have more variants than the Jag, but so does the Merc and i've seen nowhere near as many as the 5-Series in the last few months.
Seems the 5-Series will maintain its status as Britain's most popular exec and I can only put this down to the strong popularity and image of the brand, particularly as the car is apparently inferior to its key rivals but costs more.
