Jaguar Land Rover has experienced a large rise in global sales during June, owner Tata Motors has said.

JLR sold 20,189 units last month – a 47 per cent increase year-on-year.

Land Rover sales increased by 41 per cent to 13,413 units while Jaguar sales for the month rose 59 per cent to 6,776 units.

This builds on the £38.7 million profit the group made in the final quarter of 2009 and the huge increase in sales year-on-year in 2010 since.

Tata said cumulative sales of JLR for the company’s fiscal year, which started April 1, are 57,153, up 59 per cent on the year before.

JLR is expected to more than double its dealerships in India this year, according to the Hindustan Times.
