Toyota is to make its current five-year warranty offer standard on all of its vehicles from 1 June, the firm has announced.
The longer deal was introduced back in March, as Toyota tried to counter negative publicity over its vehicle recalls. Buyers could choose between three years' free servicing or a five-year warranty. Now the warranty is to be offered as standard on all new Toyotas bought after 1 June.
"Our new five-year warranty is tangible evidence of our commitment to quality and to our customers – both those who are loyal to the brand, and those who are considering switching to Toyota for their next car," said Miguel Fonseca, Toyota GB managing director.
"By taking this major initiative we are giving our customers complete peace of mind. We want to reassure them that, in choosing a Toyota, they are getting the best in quality, reliability and durability."
The five-year warranty is designed to rival those offered by rivals Hyundai (five years) and Kia (seven years). However, Toyota's deal has a 100,000-mile limit, whereas the Korean brands' policies have no stated mileages.

I think it'd be daft to ignore the additional warranty. When I got my Aygo, it came with a free 12-month Toyota warranty (just had its 3rd birthday) and I've been grateful for it - there was a minor electrical glitch soon after I bought it, and part of the ECU needed replacing - this was done under the warranty. Could've been pricey otherwise. I think it's a good move. Now they need to replace the bland Auris! :P

Kia warranty:
"..Some items have a natural limited life/durability and are therefore covered for less than 7 years. These items include (but are not restricted to) consumable parts such as worn windscreen wiper blades, clutch linings, etc. The vehicle battery is warranted for a period of 2 years. The audio system is warranted for 3 years/60,000 miles and vehicle paint is warranted for 5 years/100,000 miles.
For all other components, the total cost of parts and labour associated with any warranty claim are covered..."
Sounds similar to all other manufacturers T & Cs except that it is 7 years instead of 3

Im surprised Toyota have not offered this warranty for years with their reputation for reliability.i think they are trying to stay one step ahead of VW as they must if they are to remain the largest car company
