Fiat has launched a new Uno concept car made with recycled and natural materials.
The Fiat Uno Ecology concept was revealed at the same time as the regular supermini in Brazil last week. It is powered by a 1.0-litre engine equipped with a stop-start system.

Solar panels are fitted to the roof to help recharge the battery; this cuts down on the alternator's workload and improves fuel economy. Other eco features include a tyre pressure monitor to allow the driver to maintain the optimum pressure for economy.
Materials used in the Ecology's construction include recycled plastic bottles and fibres from coconuts. The concept has taken Fiat's Brazilian engineering team 14 months to develop.

The best form of recycling i can think of would be for all the scrappage cars that we have just 'thrown away' to be put them back on the road. Either here, or in a part of the world that isnt so wasteful

Fantastic – a concept that actually has features that might be useful to me (and many other drivers), rather that another ‘LOOK AT ME, I can do 150mph, 0-60 in sub 5 seconds and have excessive electronics to counter the inability of most drivers to cope’ irrelevance. Thumbs up Fiat.

What is next? Banana skin tyres? I'm all for motorists doing our bit to save the environment, but please save us from cars like this!
