The first Opel Ampera has been built.
The pre-production model was made on the Chevrolet Volt production line at GM's assembly plant in Warren, Michigan and will be used for testing.

Like the Volt, the Opel/Vauxhall Ampera can deliver up to 37 milesof pure electric driving before a small displacement petrol engine/generator kicks in.
It is scheduled to go on sale in Europe by the end of 2011.
