British sports car maker Ginetta has announced it has bought niche manufacturer Farbio.

Farbio is best known for the GTS, a Porsche Cayman rival.

The move allows the Leeds-based marque to sell the GTS under the Ginetta brand, though the car will continue to be produced at Farbio's Bath headquarters and Farbio's founder, Chris Marsh, will continue as managing director.

Commenting on the deal, Marsh said, "It was a welcome move for us as it brings more stability as well as more resources. The accomplishments that have been made by Ginetta have been fantastic, and both companies will benefit."

Farbio was established in 2005 and has made a name for itself by producing the carbonfibre-bodied GTS. Currently the takeover has brought nothing but a new identity for the GTS range, which remains on sale and unchanged.

Another Ginetta road car will join the new GTS later this year, in the form of the 1.8-litre Zetec engined Ginetta G40.
