This is the Fisker Karma, which has been shown at the Geneva motor show.

The car is built around an innovative aluminium spaceframe chassis. Fisker claims that "if its advanced, extruded aluminum spaceframe is any indication it will be one of the world’s best driving cars."

It adds that the spaceframe "sets new industry standards for rigidity, strength and safety" and that "though it is a big (4996mm x 1984mm) four-door saloon, it will handle like a coupe."

The production version of the Karma plug-in hybrid will go on sale at the end of the year.

It has 403bhp, hits 62mph in 6.0sec and has a top speed of 125mph, yet averages 83mpg and emits 83g/km of CO2.

Designed by former Aston Martin and BMW designer Henrik Fisker, the Karma is the same height as a Porsche 911 but has the internal space to fit four adults and their luggage.
