These are the first spy pictures of the Chevrolet Orlando seven-seat MPV, which will go on sale in 2011.

The Chevrolet Orlando is based on the Delta platform that underpins the new Cruze, and it will share styling and design cues with the GMC Granite, which was unveiled at this year's Detroit motor show.

So far the Orlando has only been shown as a concept car, which was powered by a 148bhp two-litre four-cylinder diesel engine with 236lb ft of pulling power.

Production engines are expected to include 1.6-litre turbocharged and 1.8-litre petrols plus 135bhp and 150bhp diesels.

At the time of the concept's launch in 2008, company officials said that that it will probably only be slightly modified before going on sale, which will mean it keeps its distinctive blocky styling.

It's expected to score with buyers for its highly competitive price and equipment mix.
