Autocar's week in pictures

11 December 2009

This week started with a surprise admission from Audi boss Rupert Stadler, who pointed out that the company would rather be seen as sporty than green. It wasn't the sort of statement we're used to from car bosses at the moment - but it's hard to fault his logic.

The week continued in a similar vein when McLaren boss Ron Dennis - who spent decades fighting tooth and nail with Ferrari over F1 world titles - confessed that his company's move into road cars was inspired by a desire to emulate the age-old rivals from Maranello.

Mid-week, we returned to more familiar territory, bringing you first drives of some of the most important cars for next year and far into the future. Leading the way were our Rolls-Royce Ghost drive and Audi etron and Sportback concept tests.

Then came two cars we haven't driven yet, but which we got a sneak peak of ahead of their launch - the Mercedes E-class cabriolet and the Tata Nano Europa.

Finally, we've been indulging in a homegrown story at the tail-end of the week. The Porsche 911 Turbo v Audi R8 V10 v Nissan GT-R video, picture and story extravaganza has been hugely popular.
