The points system for Formula One will be overhauled next season.
Under the new system, the top ten finishers will score on a 25-20-15-10-8-6-5-3-2-1 basis.
The plans were ratified by the FIA's World Motor Sport Council today (Friday).
The move is designed to give more reward to winning drivers, as well as award points further down the grid, with the field expanding to 26 cars next season.
Other proposals being discussed to improve F1 for fans include a group launch event in Valencia, when all the teams will present their new cars and drivers, and improved use of the internet and social media for promoting the sport.
