Volvo sale talks with Geely have intensified this week, according to reports.

China's Geely Holding Group, the parent company of Geely Automobile, was named by Ford as a preferred bidder for Volvo last month.

Now Geely officials are in Gothenburg and Stockholm this week to meet with Ford and Volvo officials, Volvo unions and Swedish government officials.

Reports in China suggest that Volvo will retain the rights for its licensed technologies but will allow Geely to use them. Ford and Volvo have declined to comment.

Speculation has also suggested that Geely is offering $2 billion (£1.2bn) for Volvo - significantly less than the $6.45 billion (£3.8bn) Ford paid for the Swedish car maker in 1999.
