The Fiat-Chrysler press conference has just opened in Detroit to an auditorium packed with reporters and photographers eager to hear how Fiat will save one of America’s most famous carmakers from oblivion.
Auto industry analysts say that the Chrysler Group – which includes Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep – is in a perilous position, with sales well down and relying a bridging loan form the US Government.
Chrysler could quit the UK
Chrysler’s current product portfolio is regarded as one of the weakest in the industry and Fiat boss Sergio Marchionne is expected to announce radical product plans that will see new models based on new Fiat Auto platforms and using the new Fiat Multiair engine technology.
