Rubens Barrichello has left the Brawn GP Formula One team in favour of a switch to Williams for 2010.

The Brazilian won two races for the newly-founded team this year and he remained in the title fight alongside team mate Jenson Button until the penultimate round of the season in Brazil.

He will be paired alongside German Nico Hulkenberg as part of an all-new line-up for the Cosworth-powered team.

“Rubens needs no introduction,” said team principal Frank Williams. “He is not only the most experienced driver in Formula 1, but a passionate and talented driver who fought hard for the drivers' championship this year.

“Nico Hulkenberg won the GP2 Championship this season as a rookie and has previously won the F3 Euro Series, A1 GP and Formula BMW Germany.”

The pair replace the outgoing Kazuki Nakajima and Nico Rosberg. The Japanese driver is unlikely to find a drive next year, while the German has been strongly tipped to replace Barrichello at Brawn.
