Chrysler and Lancia will share products across their respective ranges as part of Fiat’s takeover of the US firm.

Lancia CEO Olivier Francois has been installed as Chrysler’s brand boss as the first step towards the two firms’ integration, which will see them share everything from small hatches to large saloons.

Dodge to be dropped in Europe

One of the first cars to spawn from the arrangement could be a Lancia variant of the Chrysler 300C to replace its ageing Thesis saloon. The Italian firm ended seven years of Thesis production in the summer.

Lancia could also be set to get a variant of the Chrysler Crossfire replacement, while Chrysler could get a version of the Lancia Ypsilon, which is due on sale in Europe next year.

The Chrylser-Lancia tie up follows the news that Fiat is expected to drop the Dodge brand from Europe as part of its new plans for the company.
