1200bhp Venom GT confirmed

The Hennessey Venom GT supercar will be launched at next March's Geneva motor show, the company has confirmed.

The Venom GT has already undergone some key revisions from the spec originally announced, including having its engine changed from a a twin-turbo Viper V10 to a self-built V8, and shedding kerb weight from 1224kg to 'less than 1088kg'.

The car is the work of Texas tuner John Hennessey, and its maker claims its V8 engine, which is linked to a six-speed manual gearbox, will deliver 'up to 1200bhp'.

Consequently, the Venom GT is quoted as hitting 0-60mph in 2.4sec, 0-100mph in 5.3s, 0-150mph in 8.9s and 0-200mph in 14.3s. It has a top speed of 272mph.

No prices or on sale dates have been announced.
