European production versions of the new Subaru Outback and Legacy models have been launched at the Frankfurt motor show.

American versions of both models have already been revealed, but Euro-spec cars will get a redesigned front grille, front bumper and larger wing mirrors.

The Legacy saloon and estate models are 65mm and 55mm longer than the outgoing models respectively, while the wheelbase in both cases is expanded by 80 mm to increase interior legroom.

The Legacy will be offered with two four-cylinder petrol engines - a 2.0 litre and a 2.5-litre unit - and Subaru's 2.0-litre boxer turbodiesel engine.

The Outback will be available with the 2.5-litre petrol and 2.0-litre boxer diesel engines.

Subaru has yet to confirm pricing for the new models, but expect the Legacy to start from around £18,500 and the Outback from around £19,000 when they go on sale later this year.
