Shelby Distribution USA has launched its latest up-to-date version of the 1965 Shelby Daytona Coupe.

The CSX 9000 Series Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe Mk2 offers a range of upgrades over the previous Superformance Daytona Coupe and it is available with either an aluminium or fibreglass body.

Lance Stander, president of Shelby Distribution USA, said, “"A sports car with the heritage and image of the Coupe begged for improvements and new features to make it a worthy contender in the market in which it already is one of the most sought-after contenders.”

The chassis has been stiffened, the front and rear suspension have been upgraded, the seats have been moved to create more cabin space and external door handles have been added for the first time.

Modern interior additions include air conditioning and sports seats, and the Shelby also gets new 18-inch alloy wheels.

The first two models have already been delivered to customers. Prices start at $89,900 (£53,000) for the fibreglass model and $195,900 (£116,350) for the aluminium version.
