5-series GT on the road

The new BMW 5-series GT has been spotted on the road by a keen-eyed Autocar reader.
The car is not due to go on sale in the UK until October, but it was seen by Tom Ferguson near Lyon in France with the badges disguised.

The wheels look smaller than the five-spoke items on the official pictures released in May, helping to give it a bulkier appearance.
The GT is designed to bring the elevated seating appeal and inherent packaging of a modern-day SUV to the 5-series line-up.
Previewed as a concept car at the Geneva motor show in March, the production model has only detailed modifications.
The addition of the GT will extend the 5-series line-up to three models for the first time in its 37-year history, selling alongside the more traditional saloon and estate variants.
UK prices are expected to start from around £40,000.
