GM still plans plug-in SUV

GM is still promising to launch a new plug-in SUV by 2011, despites it selling off its Saturn brand.
Last year, GM announced plans to launch a Saturn Vue plug-in hybrid SUV, which would be able to travel up to ten miles using its lithium-ion battery pack alone.

Despite GM scrapping Saturn, the firm’s vice chairman Tom Stephens said: “I can tell you that I won't lose one day in terms of customers being able to walk into dealerships and actually purchase a plug-in SUV.”
The Saturn Vue was to be powered by a 3.6-litre petrol engine alongside the mains rechargeable lithium-ion batteries.
GM’s plug-in hybrid SUV will now be branded as one the firm’s other four key brands – Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and GMC.
