The range-topping Renault Laguna GT has been dropped from a revised Laguna line-up.

The 203bhp 2.0-litre petrol engine from the GT has been dropped from a simplified range that now comprises Expression, Dynamique, TomTom Edition and Initiale trim levels. The 178bhp turbodiesel from the GT will continue as an option on Initiale and Dynamique trim levels.

Mechanically the Renault Laguna remains unchanged, but the core Dynamique and TomTom Edition models now get a sportier look, with bumpers, black-surround headlights and smoked tail lights from the now discontinued Renault Laguna GT.

Renault’s Active Drive four-wheel steering system has also been dropped from the Laguna hatch and estate, although it continues in the Laguna coupe range, which continues unchanged.

The revised Laguna range now also features two diesel engines that drop below 140g/km of CO2, earning them Renault’s eco2 label.

The 1.5-litre dCi 110 emits 130g/km and, with a combined fuel economy figure of 57.6mpg is claimed to be good for a 745-mile range, while the 2.0-litre dCi 150 FAP is good for 139g/km.
