The Mitsubishi Outlander GT Prototype has been revealed at the New York show, and its reworked nose bears more than a passing resemblance to the Evo X's.

The ‘jet fighter’ corporate grille has so far been fitted to the Lancer Evo and new Colt, but it is being gradually rolled out across Mitsubishi's model range.

Despite the prototype tag, the Mitsubishi Outlander GT's styling is thought to be production ready.

The revised Outlander is due on sale in 2010, although European-spec cars are not expected to get the concept’s 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine.

The concept also features Mitsubishi's "Idle Neutral Logic System", which automatically places the gearbox in neutral when the car comes to a halt.

UK specs and prices for the revised Outlander range have not been confirmed.
