Ford to raise prices again

Ford has announced an average price increase of 3.75 per cent across its new model range.
The increase will take effect on April 1 and it follows a 4.7 per cent rise that was introduced in February.
Ford has said the decision has been made because of the pound’s continued weakness against the euro, and it has warned that other firms could follow suit.
Nigel Sharp, managing director of Ford Britain, added that the price rises were necessary to protect jobs and to keep the business viable.
The euro’s value against the pound has increased by 30 per cent in the last 18 months, and this has hit Ford hard.
Examples of the price increases range from a £50 hike on the cost of a new Ka, to a £1000 rise on a Focus Coupe Cabriolet.
