Here’s McLaren’s new supercar, codenamed McLaren P11, spotted testing in Sweden ahead of its launch late next year.

Although the car is almost completely covered in cladding that hides the car’s true shape, our spy shots show the McLaren P11’s Lamborghini-style scissor doors for the first time.

At the rear the McLaren P11’s engine cover slopes more heavily than the disguise suggests, although the true angle is suggested by the rear window. The spoiler is supported by aluminium extrusions and appears to be adjustable.

The McLaren P11 is similar in size to a Ferrari F430, is built from carbon fibre and should weigh around 1350kg, making it lighter than its current rivals.

The P11 will not necessarily be built at McLaren’s Woking factory, where the last SLRs are now under construction. Because the firm reckons it will make more P11s than SLRs – around 1500 per year – it is investigating other production sites, including facilities outside of the UK.

The McLaren P11 coupe will be launched in November 2010, and it will be joined by a roadster in 2011.
