This miniature sports coupe is the Mitsubishi i MIEV Sport Air, an all-electric concept car that Mitsubishi has confirmed will be shown at the Geneva motor show in March.

The Sport air concept is based on the Mitsubishi i MIEV, the electric version of the Mitsubishi i city car, and is described as “placing a greater emphasis on driving pleasure”. That means Mitsubishi is looking at using the i MIEV’s drivetrain to build a sportier car.

The Mitsubishi i MIEV Sport Air has a more powerful electric motor than the i MIEV, and Mitsubishi claims it also has a low centre of gravity due to the floor-mounted location of the lithium-ion batteries.

The Mitsubishi i MIEV Sport Air also uses solar panels in the roof and nose to provide extra electrical power to run the car’s ancillary systems.
