More images: Kia Soul

Tuesday, September 02, 2008

Kia has released more images and details of its new high-riding hatchback, the Soul. Due to make its debut at the Paris motor show on October 2, the Kia Soul is 1610mm tall only 5mm shorter than the Nissan Qashqai crossover and is said to offer interior space that beats many larger vehicles.

Gregory Guillaume, Chief Designer for Kia Europe, described the Soul as being 'about surprise and style.' Guillame claims the Soul's "tall doors and high-mounted seats make for easy access and an airy interior, yet the laid-back dashboard design createss spaciousness for passengers and cosiness for the driver."

This interior and exterior design is the key selling point for the Soul, which Kia hopes will attract a younger audience to the brand. It will be available with uprated versions of the 1.6-litre diesel and petrol engines currently in the Cee'd, both tuned to produce 124bhp.

No prices are confirmed, but expect the Soul to go on sale in March next year from around £12,000.
