Audi has launched its new and improved MMI (Multi Media Interface) in-car infotainment system for the flagship A8 range. Loaded with new technology, the system features a new joystick located on the control dial that can be moved in eight different directions to make menu selections.

The new system features a seven-inch LCD screen and a 40Gb hard drive, 10Gb of which can be used to store your favourite tunes. The rest of the storage capacity is used by the sat-nav, which utilises an Nvidia graphics processor to display 3D images of your surroundings in navigation mode, and logbook information.

The technological merry-go-round doesn’t end there because there’s a DVD drive, Bluetooth hands-free capability, an SD card slot, a USB port and an auxillary jack for MP3 players.

Audi has confirmed that, in addition to the A8, it will fit the MMI Mk2 to the A6 and Q5 SUV “before long”.
