Subaru has revealed a new electric car based on its Japanese market Stella mini MPV.
The technology has already been seen in Subaru’s R1e, which uses lithium-ion batteries to power the electric motor, and will propel the car for up to 50 miles on a full charge.
The R1e has already been tested by TEPCO, the company which produces the batteries for the Subaru R1e, and which runs 40 R1e vehicles on its fleet.
The Subaru Stella is intended to be a more practical alternative to the R1e, and will be showcased at the G8 Summit on July 7, where five examples of the electric car will provide transport for the visiting officials.
It’s unkown whether the Subaru Stella and R1e electric vehicles will lead to a production EV.
