McLaren boss Ron Dennis has been awarded the Prince Philip Medal for his services to engineering. Dennis received his award from the Duke of Edinburgh at a ceremony celebrating technical innovation and excellence in engineering.

The Mclaren team has won nine driver world championships under Dennis's leadership. He said: "When you look at the list of past winners, I feel flattered and honoured to have been selected for this award. In truth, though, it's an award for all who work at McLaren, not just for me."

Dennis recently denied any involvement in the Max Mosley sex scandal that rocked Formula One, saying, "I categorically deny that I have anything to do with the News of the World investigation into Mr Mosley."

Mosley position as FIA president was widely considered under threat, but he survived a vote of confidence in his FIA leadership last week.
