Hummer has taken a faltering step towards improving the eco credentials of its range by cutting the CO2 emissions on its largest model, the H2.

The huge 4x4’s emissions figure has been slashed by 100g/km – but while that reduction would be a lot for most cars, with Hummer it’s the equivalent of hearing that British Airways has switched to eco-kettles in its Club Lounge.

The 6.2-litre V8 fitted to the H2 still puts out 412g/km of CO2 following its eco-makeover, and its fuel economy has improved by a modest 4mpg, to a combined figure of 16.2mpg.

Hummer has also introduced an optional row of third seats (allowing the H2 to carry up to seven passengers in total), plus subtle revisions to the exterior and dash.

Prices for the revised Hummer H2 start at £48,995.
