Mitsubishi has dropped the CO2 emissions on its manual L200 pick-up by 3g/km, to 225g/km.

This move hardly means that the ice caps will stop melting, but it does guarantee owners of the greener L200 access to London for £8 instead of the £25 it will cost for the older, more polluting model to enter the capital if Ken Livingstone’s proposed congestion charge is implemented in October.

Jim Tyrrell, Mitsubishi’s managing director, said, “We have worked hard to reduce the emissions levels wherever we can to help minimise any negative financial impact on the thousands of businesses that have chosen to use our pick-ups.”

All manual L200’s registered from 1 April onwards will get the lower emissions rating.
