Ron Dennis will not step down from his position as McLaren team principal, Autosport.com has reported.

There had been a lot of speculation that Dennis would relinquish his role, following the on-going debacle in which McLaren was found in possession of confidential Ferrari documents.

The team was fined £50m and excluded from the 2007 manufacturers championship. Legal action was still going on two weeks ago, when Dennis and other McLaren officials were visited by Italian investigators.

Dennis took over McLaren in 1980 and currently holds three positions in the team; chairman and CEO of the McLaren Group and McLaren team principal.

It is now certain that he will retain all of those positions for the foreseeable future - a timely announcement made just before the Formula One season starts this weekend with the Melbourne GP.
